This role has been made available by mixed Secondary Academy in Doncaster accommodating approximately 1300 students aged between 11 and 18. The school has a very dedicated workforce, with a vision to create a centre of excellence where all students are supported and challenged to achieve their true potential.

Your new role

The school are currently looking for a full time Behaviour Officer to start as soon as possible. The Behaviour Officer serves to reinforce the high expectations of conduct (behaviour and attitudes) in and around the academy and support the behaviour mantra: right thoughts, right words, right actions. This will include; working alongside the Pastoral team to manage student behaviour issues, removing students from classrooms when appropriate, managing aggressive or inappropriate behaviour and ensuring both student and staff wellbeing remains paramount at all times. Furthermore, you will be required to assist in the supervision of detention and the academies sanction room. Other duties will include; patrolling the academy supporting learning and non-participating students and supporting the Behaviour and Pastoral team in conducting investigations into behaviour incidents. The hours are approximately 8am-4pm Monday to Friday, and there is potential for a temp to perm transition in this role.

What you’ll need to succeed

In order to be a successful candidate for this role, you will need experience in behaviour management and a strong ability to remain calm in high pressure situations. The role is well suited to an individual with experience in a similar role in a school but also candidates with armed forces, police or security experience. You will need to build a high-profile around the academy and prioritise safeguarding in all situations. The right candidate will be a flexible, proactive team member that will represent the academy within the local and wider community. We will need to be able to obtain references to cover the last 2 years as a minimum and you will need to be willing to undergo a DBS check if you don’t already have a DBS on the update service.
