Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant- Required for ongoing role

Your new role
As a full-time SEN teaching assistant, you will be required to work alongside other Teaching Assistants on a 2:1 and 3:1 basis. You will be working with students across all age ranges who have ASD and PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) ranging from low to high functioning. You will be supporting students throughout the day including during break and lunchtimes. Your working hours will be
Monday- Wednesday 8:30- 4:00
Thursday 8:30- 5:00
Friday 8:30- 3:30
Although the role will be challenging it is also extremely rewarding.
What you’ll need to succeed
You should have experience of at least 40 days in a classroom setting within the last 2 years. Experience working with children or young people with ASD or PDA would be preferable but experience working with SEN children or young people is essential. You will need to be empathetic and good-humoured and be comfortable with managing some extremely challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will also be able to cope with the sometimes physically demanding nature of the job. You will also need to be able to communicate effectively with staff, children and parents and have a DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
