Assistant Team Leader

You should have relevant knowledge and understanding of throughcare and aftercare and supported accommodation for young people and an in-depth understanding of the needs of our care experienced young people.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Team Leader (s) to join our Throughcare and Aftercare Team to work with formerly Looked After young people aged 16 to 25 who require supports within a semi-independent living environment. Within this, we also support a growing number of unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.
We are a multi-disciplinary team undertaking ongoing statutory responsibility to offer support, advice and guidance to this cohort of young people, and assisting them to make successful transitions as they leave care and beyond. The ability to build and maintain nurturing relationships is integral to our practice.
Within all of the above you will be expected to model “our behaviours” of respect, integrity and flexibility. This is to promote a safe, respectful and happy environment for everyone. Our practice must be Trauma Informed and reflect the principles of Scotland’s Promise.
You will be responsible for holding a case load including complex cases involving Adult Support and Protection, undertaking Pathway Assessment, Plans and Reviews, and delivering interventions accordingly.
This post will require you to work within a Senior Team who oversee 16+ services and you will lead and manage a group of residential care officers providing a service to children/young people which will include the following key functions – emergency admission, residential placements, outreach and to act as responsible manager in the absence of the Team Leader and ensure safe operation of the service.
Prior experience in a managerial position within a social services setting is a desirable.
– Hold appropriate qualification for “Residential Child Care Workers with Supervisory Responsibilities” as laid down by the Scottish Social Services Council.
– Diploma or Degree in Social Work, SVQ level 4 in Care, Degree or Diploma in Community Education is essential.
– Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.
– An ability and willingness to undertake CALM training with a focus on de-escalation.
– You will be offered the opportunity to take part in Age Assessment Training
There is a requirement that you will work a shift pattern which will include working early morning, business working hours, late evenings and weekends with a degree of flexibility.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
