Your new role
Southend Council have an exciting opportunity for two dynamic and forward thinking social workers to join their Access team.
Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available, however a flexible approach is needed as you will be required to be on site and travel around the borough.
The post holders will be an instigator for change, focusing on positives in line with Southend on Sea Borough Council’s approach in supporting individuals, families and carer’s through strengths-based conversations, assessments and care planning post discharge from hospital.
The focus is on the individual’s abilities and community assets. Working alongside health colleagues to prevent people from needing long term care and supporting interdependence, the post holder will support people and their carer’s as a ‘change agent’ to build on their strengths, assets and abilities to self-manage. You must be able to manage a busy workload and thrive in this type of environment, plus be flexible in approach to ensure the core hours are covered.

In order to progress and be considered for this role, please can you confirm that you conform and adhere to the new legislation regarding CQC Adults Regulated environments. Proof of this will be needed before your first day in the placement
What you’ll need to succeed
You must be a 2 years post qualified social worker, registered with SW England and have completed your ASYE You will ideally have experience in working within a local authority setting and be able to demonstrate your commitment to effective team working. As an experienced social worker you will have: – excellent communication skills; be proficient with using various computer systems and programmes; a good manager of time and be able to work under pressure working experience of knowledge of working with adults and older people; experience of safeguarding; and experience of undertaking Mental Capacity Act assessments.
