Salary: £22,185 – £24,590
Hours: 36 per week
Social care is a challenging and rewarding career. Our care staff work with some of Edinburgh’s most vulnerable residents. Working in Adult Social Care is a way to make a real difference to the lives of adults and it is extremely rewarding.
As activity leader we want you to have the skills and attributes to develop good personal relationships with residents, their families and friends and with care staff. Creating and delivering engaging, life enhancing and fun activities and supporting older people to engage in a range of activities. To have imagination and understanding to develop a suitable, person centred programme of individual and group activities to meet the specific physical and psychological needs of older people resident in a care home.
Some physical effort required such as lifting, manual use of equipment, manual dexterity based on arts and crafts and dancing
An ability to provide some personal care if required particularly in the community on outings. You will require a minimum SVQ2 Qualification in Health and Social Care.

We will help you to develop your skills further and work towards SVQ level 3. If you are career minded, opportunities are available for career progression. We will support you to gain formal qualifications (SVQ’s) which show you have the skills and knowledge to make a difference in the sector. You can also become a member of a professional body (SSSC) alongside thousands of social care professionals across Scotland.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
