I would like to bring your attention to a role we are currently recruiting for with one of our clients in West London.
Note: We do not offer sponsorship, so this role is only open to candidates currently living in the UK, and hold the relevant right to work documents
Independence Development Worker
Our client is an independent charity working across several sites in West London. They provide a range of support services to help young people with learning and other disabilities to achieve their full potential and live as independently as possible.
Your new role
The role would require you to help run a number of different programmes and sessions, focused on increasing independent living skills in the home, improving health and wellbeing, access to universal services, safe travel, IT literacy/digital inclusion, job readiness, financial poverty, citizenship, and human rights.
You will report to the Service Manager, working alongside 6 other Independent Development Workers to develop, design, communicate, and deliver suitable activities to meet the needs of the young people.
You will work with the Service Manager and alongside the other Independence Development Workers to create a quarterly service delivery plan for the sessions you run. You will develop each session to support the needs of both the group and individuals.
You will be responsible for the quality, effectiveness, and safety of all activities by ensuring appropriate systems and procedures are in place and adhered to.
You will encourage the young people to make decisions, set their own goals, and express their views about the programmed activities, placing them at the centre of delivery.
What you’ll need to succeed
Experience supporting young people with learning difficulties is ideal, but not essential. But you must have been responsible for designing and delivering activities. This could be from teaching, social care or any other industry where there’s an emphasis on session planning.
The service runs from 8am – 8pm Monday to Sunday, with activities split into morning and afternoon sessions. You would work regular full-time hours, but also need to be flexible to work across any given shift.
