Webwatch: Serious Case Reviews: briefings to support practice

Research in Practice, working with the research teams at UEA and Warwick University, has launched a new open access website – Serious Case Reviews – to support the application of learning in practice from Pathways to harm, pathways to protection: a triennial analysis of serious case reviews 2011-2014.

Published by the Department of Education this week, the report analyses 293 Serious Case Reviews (SCRs) relating to incidents between 1 April 2011 – 31 March 2014.

The open access website includes the full report, executive summary, and five practice briefings which outline key findings for: LSCBs; social workers and family support workers; policy and criminal justice agencies; health practitioners; and education practitioners.

Resources on the site include:

  •     Pathways to harm, pathways to protection: a triennial analysis of serious case reviews 2011 to 2014: full report
  •     A brief introductory film on the Triennial Analysis
  •     A short PowerPoint with audio in which Peter Sidebotham introduces the systems methodology used in the Triennial Analysis
  •     Practice briefings: key messages from the report
  •     Video introductions to the briefings
  •     Links to other learning materials and resources on SCRs
