Serious Case Review – Jaden Moodie – Waltham Forest Safeguarding Children Board

Waltham Forest Council has backed the recommendations made in a Serious Case Review, published today (Tuesday 26 May 2020), looking into the murder of 14-year-old Jaden Moodie.
Jaden Moodie (pictured) was knocked from his moped and stabbed to death in Bickley Road, Leyton, on Tuesday 8 January. In December 2019, one man, Ayoub Majdouline, was convicted of the killing. Four further men are still wanted in connection with his murder.
The Serious Case Review (SCR) states that although Jaden’s murder could not have been foreseen or predicted there are lessons for local and national agencies working with vulnerable young people and their families.

The Council has accepted all the recommendations in the report and action has already been taken to address the key local findings. This includes a new service established in partnership with health and police colleagues to respond within 24 hours when a child is identified as a victim of criminal exploitation.

The review identifies two national findings where services could be improved to help better protect children like Jaden in future.
