Report: Evaluation of children’s social care innovations in Hampshire & Isle of Wight

The Department for Education has published the Institute of Public Care’s evaluation of a range of innovations in Children’s Social Care in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight trialled during 2015-16.

These innovations include:

  • Multi-disciplinary teams working with families with ‘toxic trio’ issues
  • Use of volunteers to work with young people on the edge of care and other vulnerable families
  • Broader packages of support to young people on the edge of care including key working and substantial positive activities programmes
  • Use of ‘Personal Assistants’ (PAs) to enable social workers to spend more time with families
  • The development of a multi-disciplinary team to work with young people at risk of sexual exploitation

The report, including key findings, can be downloaded from the DfE website.

IPC’s other evaluation relating to innovations in Children’s Social Care in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead will be published shortly.
