Social care chief wins leadership award

Care Forum Wales’ chair and owner of Wrexham-based care organisation Pendine Park, Mario Kreft, has won a prestigious award recognising his leadership qualities.

Mr Kreft, came top in the private sector category of the Leading Wales Awards and received his honour in a ceremony in the Hilton Hotel, Cardiff, this week.

Mr Kreft set up Pendine Park in 1985 and founded Care Forum Wales in 1993, won the award for leadership in the private sector category. The awards are organised in assocation with Cardiff Metropolitan University and aim to recognise the contribution of leaders as a driver of economic growth in Wales.

Mr Kreft was awarded an MBE in 2010 for his contribution to social care in Wales and has also been named as one of the 50 most influential people in social care in the UK by the magazine, Caring Business.

He said: “Social care is one of the most challenging areas of work and winning this sort of accolade gives us the motivation and the confidence to aspire to do even more in the future.”
