Flintshire services praised in ‘encouraging’ inspection report

Children’s services in Flintshire have been recognised as being among the best in Wales in various areas of a county.

A report from the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales found adult and children’s services to be performing  positively in Flintshire.

The annual report evaluated social services provision across Flintshire and gave a positive reflection, recognising the improvements delivered and finding the council well placed to respond to challenges.

The report praised the social services team for providing an effective response to incoming referrals and good performance in fulfilling responsibilities relating to child protection and looked after children.

Also praised is the good support to young people leaving care and with improved access to accommodation, while adult services have also been commended.

Cllr Christine Jones, cabinet member for social services, said the council was delighted with the positive report.

“We’re constantly working towards improvement and this report sums up the hard work and effort of the past year by social services,” she said.

“Any recommendations in the report will also be addressed and we hope to continue the progress every year.”

Chief executive Colin Everett described the report as “encouraging”.

“The report shows we are absolutely committed to providing the highest quality social services,” he said.

“We will continue to build on our strengths to make sure we deliver the best possible services for adults and children in Flintshire.”
