Hi-tech support for Powys domiciliary carers

A NEW electronic system for recording how domiciliary carers and support staff manage their workload has been in the upper Swansea Valley has been introduced.

Powys Council has introduced the new system in the south of the county, which will see staff log in and out on a new mobile phone-based system when they arrive at and leave a client’s home.

The technology will improve management information and provide greater security for lone-working staff, and is due to be rolled out across the county.

Rosemarie Harris, Powys cabinet member for social services, care and health, said: “In the past we’ve had to input thousands of time sheets into our systems and these sheets always had to be counter-signed by the person we were helping.

“Using this system, the carer calls a certain phone number and the system automatically updates their records.”
