Children taken into care during cops’ crackdown

OUT-OF-CONTROL children in Burry Port have been removed from their families by police and put into the care of social services.

Officers took the dramatic “last resort” measures after parents apparently failed to heed a strong warning over underage drinking and anti- social behaviour plaguing the town.

Dyfed-Powys Police says “several” youngsters have taken into police protection over the past month before being passed onto social services, but refused to be drawn on exactly how many, and of what age.

Burry Port constable Vanessa Vaughan said: “We have successfully worked with social services on several families recently in the town.

“The investigations have led to several being taken into police protection and handed over to social services.”

Now other families in the area have been warned it could happen to them too, if problem children are not reined in.
