Dinas Powys Care home campaign takes to the streets

THE CAMPAIGN to save Bryneithin Care Home in Dinas Powys takes to the streets on March 14. A 12-week public consultation, which will end on March 31, was recently launched into Bryneithin’s future after the Vale Council agreed to a block on admissions.

The home is the only one in the Vale that caters for people with dementia – but has been deemed unfit for purpose.

Protesters recently gathered outside Vale Council offices – and relatives and friends of residents at the under-threat home are preparing to march through Dinas Powys.

The route starts at Camms Corner at 10.30am on Saturday, March 14, and will continue past Dinas Powys Infants School and on to Bryneithin.

Leading protester Margo Farbrace said: “We want to show the Vale Council how strongly we feel and hope people will come and join us.

“Bryneithin is the only EMI Home in the Vale. “It is well run and the vulnerable residents enjoy a caring atmosphere.

“The Vale Brass Band will give us a good send-off and we hope more supporters will join us in the centre of the village for the final stage along Britway Road.”
