Social Services’ Nod For Staff Status

Swansea Council’s Social Services department has again been recognised for its investment in its greatest asset – its staff. Following a review of the way it manages and develops its workers, the service has retained its Investors in People status.

Staff from the 2,275-strong workforce were randomly selected by assessors for interview earlier this year.

Assessor Neil Huxtable concluded that Swansea has a professional and dedicated workforce and a strong commitment to staff learning and development.

He found that positive steps were being taken to address the issue of high turnover of social workers within the Child and Family Services division.

Wendy Fitzgerald, Cabinet member for Social Services, said: “The quality of staff, their enthusiasm and the training they receive has a huge benefit to customers.”
