Study Into Effects Of Family Life
Thousands of teachers, parents and children in Wales are taking part in a study looking at the impact of family stress on school work. Dr Gordon Harold from Cardiff University has been funded by the Assembly to look at how family factors affect pupils moving from primary to secondary school and their long-term academic achievement.
The study will also assess an education programme to inform parents of the effect of stress on child development. Dr Harold has also been funded by the Children and Family Court Advisory Service in Wales to help identify the risks to children who witness violence at home.
Dr Harold said, “We are hoping these projects will advance strategies for improving the well-being of children across Wales and the UK.”
