New Pub Scheme Launched To Beat The Yobs

For the first time, pub landlords in Wrexham will join forces in a bid to drive out violent customers who regularly terrorise innocent customers. It is hoped the Pubwatch scheme will reduce the number of fights and drunken incidents in the town’s bars dramatically.

Initially it will involve five pubs in the Summerhill, Gwersyllt and Bradley areas and it is hoped it will include other pubs in the future.

From now, troublemakers will not only be barred from the pub where violence occurred, but also all the other premises signed up to the pubwatch scheme.

Pat Burns, eastern division licensing officer for North Wales Police, said: “This is a really positive move to show troublemakers there won’t be any messing about. If you’re banned from one, you’re banned from them all, and that is a powerful message.”
