Strategy Sets New Challenges For The Sector

The Care Council for Wales welcomes the Assembly Government’s 10-year strategy for social services launched today.

Speaking at the Care Council’s seminar to launch its new Service User and Carer Participation Strategy, Rhian Huws Williams, Chief Executive said that Fulfilled Lives, Supportive Communities will make sure that there will be dedicated attention to shaping social services to meet the needs of the future.

Williams added, “Most families in Wales will be using social care services at one point in their lives, therefore this strategy is highly important. Wales needs modern responsive services which are centred on the needs of individuals and families and delivered by highly trained staff.

“This strategy is an opportunity to give a new focus to the workforce agenda, building on and learning from what’s been achieved. We have to aim high and we need to make sure there is proper investment of resources to deliver this important and much needed strategy.”

The Care Council for Wales looks forward to working with the Assembly and the sector to turn this strategy into reality and to achieve the change necessary.
