Sick Days Plague Flintshire County Council’s Adult Social Care

Up to 6,488 working days were lost at Flintshire County Council in November and December, according to figures released by the authority.

One department of the authority, Education, Children’s Service and Recreation, accounted for almost half the total with 3,167 days lost.

The authority’s Adult Social Care department was also heavily hit, with 1,667 days lost due to illness. Flu, colds, back and neck pain and chicken pox were the most common reasons given to account for the days off.

As a result of the absences the authority conducted up to 687 “return to work” interviews with its staff.
