Changes to childcare training

A training pack that aims to improve social care for children in Wales has been re-launched.
Nid ar Chwarae Bach 2 (Gweithio Gyda Phlant yng Nghymru – Working with Children in Wales) is a bilingual resource that will promote effective support for children in Wales, whether they communicate through the medium of Welsh or English.
Key to this publication has been the contribution of young people.  Their views and voices have been included and can be heard throughout the pack.  Young people and workers came together through Cartref Bontnewydd in Caernarfon to discuss what they think makes a good social care worker.  This will make the training more relevant to the needs of children and young people in Wales.
Mutale Nyoni, Chair of the Care Council, said:
“In presenting Nid ar Chwarae Bach 2 we hope it will contribute to improving social care services for children in Wales.  The pack has an emphasis on the needs of children in Wales and is more relevant to meeting these needs.  Being bilingual the pack can offer training opportunities in both Welsh and English, and improve communication with children in the language of their choice”.
