Ayrshire & Fife service users urged to share experiences

The ALLIANCE and Patient Opinion are working in partnership to pilot the Care Opinion website in two local areas; Ayrshire & Arran and Fife.

People who use adult social care services in these areas are now able to share their experiences online, with service providers then able to respond and share their feedback.

All Care Inspectorate registered providers of adult care services within the pilot areas also have the opportunity to participate.

Care Opinion aims to share stories and the impact that they can have on highlighting good care, improving services and demonstrating the integration journey.

How Care Opinion works;

  • A person who uses services, their carer or relative share a story online (or by phone or post) about their experience
  • Stories are moderated* by the Care Opinion team before being posted online
  • Alerts are sent to all providers involved in the story
  • Providers can respond by posting comments online and have the opportunity to highlight if changes to services have taken place

* The anonymity of people using services and individual staff members is protected under a strict moderation policy ensuring a safe and confidential environment for all those using Care Opinion.

Over the coming months several local events will be held to allow people who use services and service providers to find out more about Care Opinion.  Training and support will be delivered for providers in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis to enable them to effectively utilise the website; to listen to stories, post responses and to develop their services using feedback from people who use them.
