Quarriers chief executive quits to ‘pursue other opportunities’

Paul Moore, chief executive of the social care charity Quarriers, has left his post with immediate effect, the charity has confirmed.

A spokesman for the charity said: “Paul Moore has decided to leave his post to pursue other opportunities. Paul has made a valuable contribution to the organisation over the past four years and we wish him well in the future.”

The charity declined to comment on the reasons for Moore’s departure, such as whether he left at short notice or if it were related to the proposals to close some of its facilities.

However, Moore’s departure follows news of proposals to close three Quarriers facilities, with 60 staff potentially being made redundant.

The proposed closures, which could take effect at the end of this academic year, are for Seafield School in Ardrossan, North Ayrshire, and for two children’s homes: Merton House in Largs and Williamfield in Irvine, which supports some of the residential pupils at the school.

The charity’s service director, Alice Drife, has been appointed acting chief executive while a replacement is recruited.
