Funding boost for victims of abuse

More than half a million pounds will be used to tackle the long term damage caused by domestic abuse.
The Big Lottery Fund (Big) has awarded £580,002 to Wigtownshire Women’s Aid, a branch of Scottish Women’s Aid, which works to prevent domestic abuse and helps women and children with experience of abuse get the services they need.
It is one of 12 awards totalling £6.5 million being handed out across Scotland from Big’s Investing in Communities programme, which will each allow some of the country’s most vulnerable people to take control of their own lives.
