Top marks for East Dunbartonshire council’s social work

SERVICES for vulnerable people in East Dunbartonshire have been praised by the Care Commission. The council’s social work service has been given the thumbs-up by inspectors for its work helping people with learning difficulties.

The Care Commission, the independent care services regulator, looked at the Homecare Service’s hospital liaison team and mainstream team, and the care home at John Street House in Kirkintilloch.Ratings varied from adequate to very good.

Councillor Michael O’Donnell, convener of East Dunbartonshire’s social services committee, said: “This is excellent news for the council’s social work service, our service users and their families.

“The adults being cared for at John Street House and their families were more than happy with the service they received, stating there was a ‘high standard of care provided’ and ‘staff have the highest standard of dedication’.”

He pledged there would be further improvements in the near future.
