New Standards To Place Heavy Burden On Nursing Homes

Age Action Ireland is warning that a large number of nursing homes around the country will need to make extensive improvements in order to comply with new regulations.

Over 650 people working in residential care are expected to attend a series of meetings from today to discuss the new standards drawn up by the Health Information and Quality Authority, which are due to be introduced before the end of the year.

A report will be sent to the Department of Health detailing the feedback from the discussions.

Age Action Ireland says it believes many nursing homes, particularly those in older buildings, will require extensive improvements to comply with the new standards.
