Concern For Withdrawal Of Youth Services

The withdrawal of statutory services from young people who reach the age of 18 in Dublin can result in homelessness.

That is according to a new study launched by Trinity College this evening.

According to the author of ‘Lives in Crisis: Homeless Young People in Dublin’, there is a particular problem in the lack of provision of services for 18-25 year olds in the capital.

Dr Paula Mayock says there is evidence to suggest that some of the interventions designed to meet the needs of homeless youth have resulted in a ‘subculture’ of homelessness.
