New Swiftcare Clinic For Swords

A third VHI swiftcare minor casualty clinic is to open in Swords, Co. Dublin in September.

At present, there are two VHI swiftcare clinics in Dublin, which treat patients with minor conditions and injuries and charge €95 for a basic consultation. The clinic charges extra for tests and x-rays.

The VHI said the two current Dublin clinics, in Dundrum and Glasnevin, see around 125 patients per day between them during the week and greater numbers at weekends.

The clinics have treated more than 40,000 patients to date.

Tim McKeown of VHI swiftcare clinics said: “Our experience with the two existing clinics has shown that patients clearly understand the concept and the types of conditions that we treat. They welcome an alternative to visiting an A&E department when they have a minor injury.”

“Over the next two years we would hope to have a network of eight VHI swiftcare clinics,” he said.

The new Swords facility will open in the purpose-built building in Airside Retail Park. It will provide on-site diagnostic x-ray services as well as access to blood pathology and ultrasound services. There will also be a broad range of treatments available at the clinic including suturing and plastering application.
