NISCC appoint new Director of Registration and Corporate Services

The Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) has announced the appointment of Declan McAllister as their new Director of Registration and Corporate Services.

Many will already know Declan from his work as Corporate Services Manager with the Northern Ireland Guardian ad Litem Agency (NIGALA).

Declan worked for NIGALA for 21 years – helping shape the statutory service for the representation of children in family law and adoption proceedings.

Speaking on his appointment, he said: “I am a strong believer in putting the citizen at the centre of public services. I am looking forward to working with all NISCC colleagues and stakeholders to continue to, strengthen the regulatory service to social work and social care professionals, maintain levels of public confidence in the social work and social care professions and work collaboratively with stakeholders to build a strong foundation of professional regulation in Northern Ireland.”

A graduate in Psychology from Queens University, Declan worked in marketing for 4 years in the Isle of Man, returning in 1994 to complete a masters degree in Information Management at Queens University.

Declan then worked in the Family business for 2 years as Administration Manager before taking up the post as Administrator with Lagan Holdings in Belfast. He joined NIGALA in October 1996 as Panel Administrator with promotion to Business Manager in September 1999. Declan was appointed Head of Corporate Services in April 2004.
