UNISON leader joins Care UK strike in Doncaster

Care UK workers, currently taking industrial action against pay and conditions were joined on the picket line by UNISON’s General Secretary, Dave Prentis yesterday.

The employees have already taken 22 days of strike action over concerns about possible cuts to their salaries.

Mr Prentis said:”Many of our members will simply not be able to pay their bills and some would lose their homes. They have shown courage and self-sacrifice to take this action because it is not just the threatened cuts they are fighting against.

“They are also fighting to preserve a service to some of the most vulnerable people in society and I want to show our admiration and solidarity for a brave and principled group of people.”

Care UK says it’s been forced to make reductions because of local authority cuts, but it has back-up plans in place.
