Teen tells social worker “I’ll cut your throat”

A girl faced court after having told a social worker she would “cut her throat”.

A Hatfield Peverel teenager appeared in Witham Youth Court last Tuesday after a series of threatening calls and text messages to an Essex Social Services worker based at Tabor House, Braintree.

The 15-year-old girl, who can not be named for legal reasons, admitted she had harassed the social worker between October 11 to October 13.

Chairman of the magistrates Dr James Bettley gave the defendant a referral order for nine months and ordered her to pay £85 court costs.

The order will entail the defendant signing a contract to carry out particular activities.
