Elderly woman falls victim to bogus social worker

An elderly Teesside woman had a large amount of money stolen by a woman pretending to be from social services. Police said the bogus caller let herself into her victim’s home in Railway Terrace, Brotton.

She asked for a drink and when the woman left the room to make it, she stole the cash and left, police said.

The woman was about 35 years old, with dark hair in the style of a bob. She was wearing worn, navy blue jeans and a white top.
