New ‘one stop shop’ for adult care opens in Bury

A new central contact centre for adult care services is now officially open in the heart of Bury. Based in Textile Hall in Manchester Road, Adult Care Connect and Direct is already proving a success with residents.

The centre was officially opened by the Mayor of Bury, Councillor John Byrne, and the launch day was attended by more than 60 people including professionals from the health, social care and the community and voluntary sectors.

Visitors were shown the main area where customers can talk in confidence to a trained advisor.

People can use internet kiosks to access the new adult care services website. Here they can make self-referrals for universal services such as Carelink and Community Meals.

There is also an assessment room containing a mock up of a flat, including a wet room, kitchen area, living room and bathroom. All of the furniture and equipment was donated by local businesses.

Adult Care Connect and Direct has a “green room” which allows service providers to showcase their services. Currently the room is being used by organisations including Carelink, the fire service, Affordable Warmth and Welfare Advice.

The centre is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. It’s the latest initiative to help customers, alongside:

    * a new “golden number” – 0161 253 5151.
    * the email address – [email protected]
    * a new website “Your Care, Your Choice”
