Voice project set to help trainees understand the impact of social work
Young people in care have helped develop a training programme that aims to give social work trainees a better appreciation of how their actions impact children.
The young people from Voice, a charity that empowers children and young people in care, took part in a project funded by the Children’s Workforce Development Council and the University of Bristol.
Working with Voice staff, 25 young people shared their perspectives on social work to help create two one-day training programmes, including training material and two films, Beyond the Stationery Cupboard… Into the Hood and Lost in Silence, Found a Voice. They were also coached as trainers to help deliver the programmes.
The training programmes will be launched at an event on Monday 6 September.
