Easy-read video web pages introduced on local authority website

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is the first local authority to make web pages easily accessible to people with learning disabilities on their council website.

The local authority worked with a group of people with learning difficulties in the borough to make Easy-Video-Pages on it’s adult social care website. The site includes information about access to health services, housing, police, and advocacy help, aas well as a wealth of information about what to do about bullying or crime.

An nice feature of this tool is that the video web pages have been put onto touch-screen kiosks, so that it is easy for people who don’t have their own computer to access the information. A video presentation on the kiosk is available online.
