Bexley police tracking phoney ‘social workers’

POLICE are looking for two women who entered a family home posing as social service workers. A family in Eltham were visited on February 11 by two white women in their 30s, a blonde with curly hair and a Mediterranean with a mole on her jaw.

The duo said they had to inspect the family’s child, whom they checked for bruises before looking around the house and inspecting the family’s fridge and bedroom.

When the women left without providing any paperwork or contact details, the family phoned social services and realised the pair were bogus.

Detective Constable David Ibbott said: “This is a very unusual case.

“We would like to hear from anyone who can identify the women or have been visited in similar suspicious circumstances.”

Nothing was stolen in the visit and police said they lack leads because they are not sure of the motive. If you have any information contact Greenwich CID on 020 8284 9416 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
