Cheshire Care Home Promises 75 Jobs

A DERELICT care home is being demolished to make way for a new 60-bed facility in Appleton. Work has started to pull down Chestnut House and the new care home and day centre will open by March 2010, providing 75 jobs in the area.

Martin Clark, managing director of CareConcepts the developer, said: “I am delighted that work has now started on site following a year of planning and consultation with our neighbours.

“We are pleased to support the council’s priority to support employment within Warrington, however care homes are strictly regulated by the Commission for Social Care Inspection and all potential employees will require to undergo a rigorous recruitment process which will include 2 work references and an enhanced criminal record check prior to employment.

“This ensures that all employees are suitable for this type of work. In addition it is not currently legal to employ people below 18 years of age to work in a care role in care services.

“We look forward to having a long and positive presence within the Appleton area.”

He added that the home will be working with primary schools in the area.
