Admiral Nurses Launch New Dementia Care Services

A new dementia care facility is being launched in east Kent. Bupa has made a donation to Admiral Nurses to support its establishment of three new teams – the first of which is being set up in the east Kent region together with the Eastern and Coastal Primary Care Trust and Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.

Admiral Nurses are supported by the national charity For Dementia.

Dr Clive Bowman, medical director at Bupa Care Services, said Admiral Nurses make an “important contribution” in the provision of dementia care.

Barbara Stephens, chief executive of For Dementia, added: “The launch of this new service has been achieved through good partnership working with Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust and we are grateful for the support of the Eastern and Coastal Primary Care Trust.”

Meanwhile, the US-based Alzheimer’s Association has urged people around the world to learn more about the condition on its website and make a donation to support research and dementia care programmes.

To tie in with the recent World Alzheimer’s Day on Sunday September 21st, the organisation pledged it will match every dollar (54 pence) donated with another dollar, up to a value of $250,000.
