NHS Complaints In North-West Hit 12000

More than 12,000 complaints were made about the NHS in the north west last year. Figures from the Information Centre for Health and Social Care showed there were 12,560 complaints about frontline health trusts in the region during 2005/06. That is the third highest regional figure in England and nearly three times the number made in the north east (3,940) in the same period.

Central Manchester and Manchester Children’s University Hospitals NHS Trust was the region’s most complained about trust, notching up 683 complaints. Nationally, there were just over 95,000 complaints in 2005/06. This was up by about 5,000 on the previous 12 months.
