Service Gets Top Rating

A service providing residential support for adults with learning disabilities has been given the highest possible rating by Government inspectors. The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) visited the supported living house at King’s Hedges, Cambridge, and gave it an “excellent” rating – the highest CSCI award. The three residents receive personal care and support from staff provided by the Cambridgeshire County Council’s environment and community services office. Inspectors found that residents fully participate in running their home and make everyday choices and decisions.

The report said: “The service provides excellent outcomes for the people who use it.”

Mike Hay, the council’s disability service area manager, said: “We are delighted with the outcome of the inspection. I am particularly pleased for the manager of the service, Jillian Skinner, and her staff, who have worked tirelessly to meet the needs of the service users in the house. They certainly deserve the ‘excellent’ accolade.”
