Bradford Social Care Users to Consider Change

Vunerable people are to be consulted on changes to social care in Bradford. Bradford Alliance on Community Care is to hold consultations next month on proposals by Bradford Council to change the eligibility criteria for social care services and to increase charges for home or community based services. Those deemed to have a lower level of need may not get help from social services.Voluntary organisations may be able to provide the kind of support people received from social services.

The consultation will look at what support is most needed. Coun Martin Smith, executive member for social care, said: “We want to ensure everyone who uses these services – whatever their level of need – gets a say on the proposed changes.”

There will be four consultation meetings. The first is on Tuesday, August 1, 7-9pm at Morley Street Resource Centre in Morley Street, Bradford. Others will take place in Keighley, Shipley and Bradford.
