Call For More Carers

More carers are needed to work with elderly and disabled people in Cambridgeshire. Plans are being made to boost the number of people working in social care in the region, with the county council sending a team of experts who already work as carers to tell students about their jobs.

The so-called social care ambassadors have already visited eight schools and one college in the county, and are planning to visit many more to raise awareness about what they do.

Adrian Key, social care careers adviser for the council, said:
“We want to dispel myths and mysteries about working in the care field to encourage more people to take up this fulfilling career.”

The council is also developing a workplacement scheme for young people in care to give them a career opportunity once they leave.
