Elderly asked to join NI Water and NIE care registers

Older people and people with a medical condition or disability are being encouraged to join the NI Water and Northern Ireland Electricity care registers.

The registers help to identify people who need extra help or support in the event of an interruption in supply.

People who join the NI Water Customer Care Register will be able to nominate a carer or relative to act on their behalf, by receiving post or by becoming a point of contact, if needed.

The care register ensures that people have valuable access to advice and services that can increase their confidence and independence at home. For example, in the event of loss of water supply, NI Water could provide bottled water to those with specific medical conditions.
