Community care changing in Moray
PEOPLE in Moray can have their say on the future delivery of community care services. A consultation has been launched on ‘New Moray Community Care Model – New Partners in Care’, with a closing date for feedback of August 20.
In the future, people will be expected to take on more responsibility for their own health and well-being to avoid becoming reliant on health and social care services.
That’s because people are living longer, and growth in demand for services will see the health and social care system under considerable pressure if the status quo remains.
As a result Moray Council’s adult community care service is changing the way it works, encouraging people to live more independently in their homes for as long as possible.
Jane Mackie, Moray Council’s head of community care, said: “Part of the change process is about re-evaluating and reconsidering our relationship with the public, what we are seen to do and what expectations are.”
The consultation document can be accessed at www.moray.gov.uk under ‘current consultations’.
Paper copies are also available from local authority libraries and access points.
A presentation on the new model is also planned for August 6.For more details cotnact Rachel Foster at [email protected] or on 01343 567132.
A report on the proposed model and the consultation findings will be considered by the council’s health and social care committee later in the year.
