Council Drive For More Care Workers
Wirral Council is launching a recruitment drive to employ social care staff to coincide with the Department of Health’s third national campaign to raise the profile of working in the social care sector.
The DoH’s campaign is running until March 31, and includes press, radio and television advertising highlighting what modern social care work is all about.
In Wirral, the recruitment drive will culminate in an open day on Thursday, March 30, to provide information and advice to people interested in working as a carer.
Anne Bailey, from Wirral’s Social Services Department, said: “Caring is a hugely rewarding but often under-appreciated profession.
“It’s no secret that the council and other social care providers find it difficult to fill all of our vacancies.”
She added: “The idea behind the open day is to provide information on the job itself. However, we also want visitors to know that the council does offer excellent training opportunities such as paying for staff to study for an NVQ in Adult Social Care.
“We are genuinely committed to providing our staff with the chance to develop their skills and their careers.”
The open day will take place from 11am to 2pm in the Hughes Suite at the Lauries Centre, Claughton Road, Birkenhead on Thursday, March 30.
Visitors to the Open Day will be able to pick up an application form.
