Three women charged after probe into ‘mistreatment’ at East Dunbartonshire care home
Three women have been charged after a police investigation into the alleged mistreatment of residents at a care home.
Police revealed in May that they were examining complaints at Springvale Care Home in Lennoxtown, north of Glasgow.
They said the charges and the investigation are not related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A police statement said: “In connection with the investigation relating to the alleged mistreatment of residents at Springvale Care Home in Lennoxtown, three women aged 55, 57 and 62 have been arrested and charged.
“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
“Relevant families and partners have been made aware.”
In a statement, Springvale Care Home said: “We can confirm that three people working at Springvale Care Home have been charged following a Police Scotland inquiry.
“As a responsible business focused on providing the best possible care for our residents, we have co-operated closely with the authorities throughout their investigation.
“The individuals in question were immediately suspended when we were alerted to this allegation.
“The matter is now under judicial consideration and so we will be making no further comment at this time.”
